The Mt. Diablo Legal Professionals Association is proud to offer continuing education to the legal community. MDLPA offers MCLE and CCLS credits at some of our general meetings, as well as at workings, seminars, and conferences. Check our newsletter, the Quid Novi, and our website's Calendar of Events for information on upcoming events.
Certification
Certification is achieved by passing a comprehensive examination including legal procedures, legal terminology, performance skills, reasoning and ethics, law office administration, communications, and bookkeeping. The locations of the examinations vary, but will take place twice a year in California. (Please see our Calendar of Events for upcoming exam dates.) A minimum of two years experience is required.
Self Study for the CCLS Exam
More information concerning the test and tools to use in studying for the test are all available at LSI® Corporate Office. You may contact Corporate Office by e-mail at lsiorg@suddenlinkmail.com.
Study Groups
In the past MDLPA has held study groups to help our members study for this exam. If you are interested in joining a study group, please contact us.
Recertification
Once you have become a California Certified Legal Secretary, you must complete 15 hours of continuing legal education within a 3-year period in order to maintain your certification. Every 3 years, you must submit proof of attendance of at least 15 hours of continuing education to the CCLS Certifying Board.
